PROV1 - Dusk, 2022
The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel: for gaining wisdom and instruction; for understanding words of insight; for receiving instruction in prudent behavior, doing what is right and just and fair; for giving prudence to those who are simple, knowledge and discretion to the young — let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance — for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and instruction.

Our spiritual lives consist of conversations that oftentimes contain more silence than dialogue. They are full of quiet moments that deepen our faith and strengthen our spiritual connection to the world around us. They are the “behind the scenes” that shape our existence.
The material in which these images are presented (ripped-out pages of the Bible) represent the expected and traditional ways in which we have learned to experience spirituality in the context of religion. The images represent the moments of silence and solitude in which we don't necessarily expect to have a moment of revelation or encounter with something greater than ourselves, yet we are met there. While they are sometimes one and the same, these moments are not always shared simultaneously.
These images juxtapose the expected (and unexpected) ways in which I have encountered God in these quiet, still moments.
